First, we will start with what is spirituality?
Spirituality is a broad idea that encompasses many different perspectives. It is a sense of connection with something bigger than ourselves and typically relates to the search for the meaning of life. It is thought of as a universal experience, as all humans experience spirituality in their own way. Many people believe spirituality to be a sacred experience.
For me specifically, spirituality transcends religion. It is about infusing more than our daily 3D reality into our lives. I was raised with Christian traditions and my family and I still continue to follow the Christian practice in many ways. I meditate and pray daily. I bless my food and water. I search for kindness in the world and strive to provide love and light to others. I find more synchronicities in my life the more aligned I am with my spirituality.
So, then what is a spiritual life?
A spiritual life is living with love in your heart for others and yourself. A person who lives a spiritual life cares about people, animals, and earth. Neither are better than the other, they are all equally important. To live a spiritual life, you must accept that we are all one and always try to honor this belief. Let kindness be your guiding light. Always be kind to yourself, others, animals, and the earth.
There are great qualities to follow when learning to live a spiritual life.
Nature of the Spirit
The goal of the spiritual path is to understand the spiritual dimensions of life and live all the values that are represented by the spirit. Those values are; peace, love, joy, unlimited knowledge, beauty, and the ability to understand mind and matter. Values are emotions and feelings that cannot be completely understood by intellect. Understanding these values can take time but living by them will open more opportunities for your spiritual life.
The Spiritual Path is Not an Escape from Life
This is actually the opposite. Taking the spiritual path can make life more difficult. The spiritual path is not an escape from hard work or action. A person must put their heart and soul into their daily actions and be ready to give one hundred percent of themselves. The spiritual life can bring lots of joy and contentment, but it is not an escape. The spiritual life is also not an escape from responsibilities, it is a path toward taking on responsibility.
Understanding and knowing that peace is your nature is an important aspect to living a spiritual life. Learning to let go at any moment in time is part of peace. One must originate from peace and strive to live continued peace throughout their life. Living this way makes you a seeker of peace and tranquility in your life.
Silence and Service
Silence can heal and rejuvenate. Silence allows you to go deeper to find clarity. Service creates a sense of belongingness. Service can provide you a content life, but without silence that life can become tiresome. Service without spirituality is typically shallow and unsustainable. One must have both silence and service to live a sustainable spiritual life.
Be confident in who you are. Without confidence, it is almost impossible to achieve anything in life. Confidence diminishes doubt. Understand doubt and eliminate your fears. When one is confident, they do not have doubt. While living a spiritual life, you may experience the nature of doubt. You may doubt the goodness of another person, but not their bad qualities. Living spiritually, you learn to handle these doubts and overcome.
How Do I Live A Spiritual Life?
I spend a lot of time being one with nature, by hiking, gardening, and being near water. I use nature to ground myself. I also love to read spiritual texts, as they empower me to think outside myself. I recently have been learning different yoga and breathing techniques as well. I am surprised and delighted by what life brings me daily through my spiritual living.
